1508 London: our story so far
Welcome to The Epistle, our new 1508 London blog. Here we will be sharing our insight and industry expertise, exploring emerging trends and celebrating the things that drive the 1508 team in our pursuit of excellence – whether that be the most celebrated design and architecture from around the world or the luxurious bespoke materials and finishes that can elevate an interior from the ordinary to the truly extraordinary. But first of all, let us introduce ourselves…
The 1508 ethos
Traditionally, design studios have grown up around an eponymous figurehead. By moving away from this hierarchical structure and instead working as a design collective, we give freedom to the industry’s most forward-thinking and creative minds. Unfettered by any house style, we think of ourselves as storytellers whose role is to interpret our client’s personality and the character, history and location of the property, weaving these strands together to produce a unique and perfectly tailored design. These principles have cemented our enviable reputation for creating exclusive, original interiors for the most discerning clients.
The varied skillset and wealth of experience of our talented multidisciplinary team allow us to work across the residential, commercial and hospitality sectors. From the classical proportions of a Regency property in Belgravia to the clean, contemporary lines of an apartment in Istanbul via the cutting-edge prestige of a Dubai boardroom, every project is approached with the same uncompromising attention to detail.
‘We take real pride in our work and are passionate about the design process,’ says Louise Wicksteed, Creative Director and Partner. ‘Each project is an opportunity to create something new, and by encouraging clients to take part in the design journey, they help to shape the end result. This enables us to create more interesting and well-executed spaces.’
The year ahead
Christmas is fast approaching, but the collective 1508 eye is already looking ahead to 2016. Among our high-end projects are the prestigious Chelsea Barracks; a redevelopment of a Lowndes Square property previously owned by Roman Abramovich; an apartment in the Southbank Tower; two 25,000-square-foot villas in Dubai; and a St Petersburg project with Squire and Partners. It looks like 2016 will offer plenty of opportunity to shine.
Hamish Brown, Sales & Marketing Director and Partner, says: ‘Our bespoke approach, stringent processes and passion for the luxury market have won us some fabulous clients and we are really relishing the opportunity to work on such a wide variety of projects, from the subtle and sophisticated to the more playful and exuberant. This is an exciting time for 1508 London.’
